Shoot United Highlights SCTP and the Positive Impact of the Shooting Sports

Shoot United attended the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) National Competition in Marengo, Ohio, to interview key leaders of the program, competitors, and family members to demonstrate the positive impact of the shooting sports.

The SCTP is one of the largest and fastest growing youth clay target programs in the United States. With an aim to help kids reach their highest potential in becoming the best athletes they can be, SCTP provides students from elementary through high school and college the chance to compete in sports such as trap, skeet, and sporting clays.

“The shooting sports are one of the fastest growing sports activities among youth in the United States” said Tom Wondrash, executive director for SCTP. “We continue to see an increase in teams and events, which is largely due to committed coaches, athletes, and parents. We are fortunate to have initiatives like Shoot United helping us share the positive messages and experiences that come from the shooting sports.”

About SCTP (Scholastic Clay Target Program)

SCTP is part of the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation (SSSF), an educational-athletic organization that exists to introduce school-age youths to the shooting sports and to facilitate their continued involvement. This is accomplished by providing, promoting and perpetuating opportunities to safely and enjoyably participate and compete in a high-quality, team-based sport led by trained adult coaches focused on enhancing the personal growth and development of their athletes.

Not only do these organizations help preserve the future of the shooting sports through recruiting new participants, but they are using the sport as a tool to demonstrate sportsmanship, responsibility, honesty, ethics, integrity, teamwork and other positive life skills, to train up future leaders in their communities.
