Never Ending Debate

Social media is buzzing with discussions about broadheads. Throughout the summer months, people engage in debates about which broadhead is the best. There are dedicated fans on both sides who believe their preferred choice is superior. I prefer to stay out of this debate because I think both types can be effective when hunters make good shots through a deer’s vital areas. A well-tuned bow and consistent practice during the summer allow hunters to fill their quivers with a variety of broadheads. Here are my thoughts on the best type of broadhead.

Fixed Broadheads
I’m excited to share my experience with fixed broadheads! In the picture above, you’ll find three of my favorite fixed broadheads. I recently began using two of them this year, while I had fantastic success with the third one last year. Let’s dive deeper into each of these broadheads and explore what makes them so special!
I’m excited to share that Triplepoint Outdoors has launched the fantastic Clovis Carnivora V2, a two-blade fixed head that truly stands out! Made from a single piece of durable S7 stainless steel, it boasts a cutting diameter of one inch and impressive flight performance. Plus, it arrives sharp and ready to go at 100 grains! I can’t wait to put this broadhead to the test this fall—it’s sure to be a game-changer!
The 3-blade, 100-grain Draugr head from Slatra Archery boasts an impressive 1.6-inch cutting diameter and is crafted from durable stainless steel. Its razor-sharp blades and sturdy ferrule ensure exceptional performance. It flies just like a field point and operates quietly. I’m genuinely impressed with this outstanding broadhead! The fixed head is on the right side of the picture.

The Trifecta Blender 100-grain fixed head is a powerhouse, effortlessly slicing through everything in its path! The broadhead, showcased in the center of the image, delivers pinpoint accuracy like a field point, bringing down deer efficiently. With its sharp 2-blade design and a cutting diameter of 1.25 inches, it ensures remarkable damage to the vitals. Just take a look at the impressive exit wound! It’s no surprise that the doe fell just fifty yards from the stand. This broadhead truly elevates your hunting experience!

Mechanical Broadheads
Take a look at the two mechanical broadheads I absolutely love! On the left, you’ll find the Grim Reaper Carni-Four 100-grain head, and on the right, the Triple Point Outdoors Clovis Helicut 100-grain head. I’m a big fan of these models because they’re incredibly durable, deliver impressive wound channels, and shoot with pinpoint accuracy. They truly enhance my experience out in the field!
The Grim Reaper Carni-Four features a mechanical four-blade head with a cutting diameter of 1.50 inches and 1.25 inches. The “Pro Tip” is designed to easily punch through bones, and when all four blades deploy, they create a significant wound channel. When Grim Reaper says, “Watch ‘Em Drop,” they mean it.

Triple Point Outdoors proudly presents the Clovis Helicut mechanical broadhead, a remarkable innovation in archery! Its unique design incorporates a powerful earth magnet, ensuring the blades stay securely in place until activation. With just three pounds of pressure, the blades open up to form an impressive wound channel greater than two inches. Not only does the Clovis Helicut feature a sleek design, but it also flies true like a field point! Plus, it includes practice blades, so you can sharpen your skills all year round. Get ready for a fantastic hunting experience!

Hybrid Heads
While fixed and mechanical broadheads have their strengths, I wholeheartedly believe that hybrid heads take the cake! My top pick is definitely the Grim Reaper Micro Hybrid head. I’ve lost track of how many animals I’ve successfully harvested with this incredible design—it’s truly impressive!
This hybrid features a robust two-blade fixed head with a cut diameter of 1 1/16 inches, paired with a two-blade mechanical head that boasts a cut diameter of 1 1/4 inches. Altogether, this four-blade marvel provides a remarkable total cut diameter of 2.3 inches! Not only does the Micro Hybrid fly like a field point, but it’s also built to last. I even harvested seven different animals with the same head a couple of seasons ago. In my experience, it truly combines the best of both worlds for every hunting adventure!
